Monarch Basics

Get Started With Monarch

Having a system to track your spending can be a fantastic tool. But for it to work well for you, it has to be a system that you understand and reflects how you manage your money.

Investing a little time upfront to get the system customized to match your life drastically increases the likelihood that this system will work well for you long into the future.

Monarch Basics

This 2-session package is good for people just starting to use Monarch Money. Maybe you are just now setting up your account. Or maybe you’ve been using it for a few months, but it still feels a little clunky, and you want some help making it work more effectively for you.

What’s covered:

  • Set up your account & link your banks with Monarch

If you haven’t created your Monarch account, or if you haven’t linked your bank accounts to Monarch yet, we can do that together in this session.

  • Customize your categories

This is the most critical step. Monarch is a fantastic tool, but for it to work well for you, you need to make sure it’s providing the data that matters most to you. Refining the categories (what categories to include, how to group them, etc) will ensure that Monarch gives you that important information.

  • Customize Rules

Creating custom rules gives Monarch instructions on how to automatically categorize your transactions. By taking a little time to create rules that reflect how you spend and how you group those expenses, Monarch will be able to provide more accurate data, with much less effort going forward.

  • Implement best practices

How often should you log into Monarch? What information are you looking at when you log in? When does it make sense to create new categories? How often should you re-evaluate your budget? Should you turn off email notifications or adjust which notifications you are getting?

What it includes:

1-hour Zoom call - during this call, we will get your Monarch dashboard set up and customized to best fit you and your typical transactions

30-minute follow-up Zoom call - this call gives us a chance to troubleshoot any questions that come up after the first call, refine any aspects that need to be adjusted, and discuss best practices to utilize going forward

Cost: $295

Next Steps

  1. Book your first Zoom call (1 hour) via Calendly.

  1. After you’ve booked the call, you will receive an immediate confirmation email from Calendly. Within approximately 1 business day you will receive an email from AdvicePay with a Client Agreement for you to sign.

  2. After the Agreement is signed, you will receive another email from AdvicePay with your invoice. Payment needs to be made before our call.

  3. After our 1-hour session, you will get an email with a link to schedule our follow-up 30-minute session.

Monarch is a great tool that allows you to see where your money is going, and make more informed decisions.

However, if you’d like to gain control of your finances and reach your goals faster, you may benefit from a longer-term 1:1 coaching program.

Hi, I’m Sarah Roller, a financial coach for women and new parents.

What I love most about financial coaching:

  • Helping women feel more confident with their money

  • Creating systems that make money less stressful

  • Providing an easy-to-understand approach to an overwhelming topic

  • Facilitating meaningful conversations to get couples on the same page

  • Giving new parents permission to spend on themselves, not just the baby

With an understanding of where your money is going, what your goals are, and what expenses add the most value to you, making financial decisions becomes a lot easier.  Money is a tool, and if you learn how to use it effectively, it can open countless opportunities.
